The Over 50s captain is Neil Brown who plays for Herne Bay
Neil’s reaction….
Paul Murtagh phone me last Wednesday with the good news of being selected in the 10 man squad .
Paul explained what the details were for the forthcoming weekend , but then said there was something else he needed to tell me, he then told me he would like me to Captain the team,’ wow Captain of your country’. I must admit, everything he said after that just went in one ear & out the other, once I finished talking to Paul , I just walked around in a daze for a while just thinking what he had said, it’s not every day you get told your going to represent your country let alone be Captain , in all my player days this is right up there , if not the best thing in my football Career.
Spencer Pratten of Chelmsford has been appointed as captain of the over 60s.
Spencer sent me the following unprompted response:
Hi Paul.
Just a quick e mail to say how honoured I am to have woken up this morning as England Over 60’s captain. I was so pleased to have been selected for the team, but to get to skipper the side as well… it’s fairy tale territory!
I would also like to say what a great team you have assembled; as professional an outfit as you could have wished for and as long as I am able to hold an England shirt, then I will give my all both on the pitch, as player and captain, and off the pitch in any capacity I am asked to perform in my role.
Thanks to you and the management team for this amazing opportunity and I can promise I will not let anybody down.
Very best wishes,
Spencer
