The benefits of Affiliation

Affiliation to The WFA costs £25 per club and gives you a number of benefits.

A comprehensive list of benefits

  • The right to enter squads for the National Cup and any other WFA run Leagues or approved events. (Only affiliated clubs can enter WFA Tournaments and Leagues from 2022)
  • The right to vote on how the WFA is run and governed
  • Right to vote on changes to Laws of the Game (LOTG)
  • The right to submit players for the National Teams (Only players from affiliated clubs can play for the England National Teams from 2022**)

  • The ability to take advantage of our low cost Accident and Injury insurance for players*. This is only available to players from affiliated clubs.
  • Affiliated clubs can run approved WFA events and the players attending have the ability to be covered by the WFA Accident and Injury insurance
  • Free Health & Safety advice
  • The option to have a WFA referee course*** held at your club

*Clubs that currently have insurance through the FA Bluefin scheme; that insurance will not cover players for WFA events, unless the event is approved by your club’s county FA. This was confirmed to us by Bluefin, but feel free to check the cover yourself.

** If current England players play for a club that doesn’t affiliate for 2022, we will be operating a transition period and these players will still be eligible. For more details, players can talk to their National Squad Manager.

*** Referees courses are an extra cost per attendee.

WFA Individual Player Accident and Injury Insurance

The WFA recommends all players take advantage of this low costs Accident and Injury insurance, for peace of mind when playing Walking Football with The WFA. It is available for individual players at a low cost of £5 per player for 12 months cover, that’s less than 10p a week.

For groups of 10 or more, the cost is reduced to £4 per player for 12 months cover. To apply for this, please contact carolcrump@thewfa.co.uk

This insurance will cover players for all matches in the National Cup and all other WFA Tournaments and Leagues and any WFA approved events, plus all training sessions at their club for a full 12 months. 

Update: The cover also extends to playing WFA approved games in Europe.

WFA National Cup – Now with Insured Squads

Each Squad entering the National Cup will be insured from 2022 – up to a maximum of 15 players per squad. (eg: 15 players from your club who will be in your Over 50s squad, same for over 60s etc) This insurance is included in the cost of entry. So, if you enter the cup after affiliating, 15 of your players will already have the insurance cover. 

The cover is exactly the same as the individual cover explained above.

  • Players will be insured for all WFA events and tournaments
  • Players will be insured for friendly matches
  • Players will be insured for all training sessions
  • Insured players that play for more than one club will be covered playing for both clubs
  • The only insurance that will cover players playing in WFA events*
  • The insurance policy is with Aviva through Sports Insure
  • £5 per year. Less than 10p a week
  • Discounts for groups of 10 or more
  • WFA Membership card that can be used as identity document for matches
  • Insured players can take the insurance with them if they move clubs

We will pay You on behalf of the Insured Person the amount specified below for each fracture, or a maximum of £1,000 for all fractures.

Arm (Humerus, Radius & Ulna) or Wrist (Carpals) – £250

Leg (Femur, Tibia, Fibula), Ankle (Tarsals) or Kneecap (Patella) – £500

Skull (excluding jaw and nose), Collar bone (Clavicle), Shoulder Blade (Scapula) – £500

Coma Benefit £50 per day for each day up to a maximum of 730 days

Affiliation Process – Stage 1

Once you have completed this form, you will be taken to stage 2 where you will create a username and password and pay for your affiliation. At the second stage, you will also make the payment. Payments are taken securely by Stripe. Payments are non-refundable.

If you already have a listing in the directory and you don't want to change anything, tick the 'Yes'. If you want to change anything use the fields in the form below. Listings not in the directory should complete all the fields in the form.

The address where you play/train and information on sessions you run and the relevant age groups. If you use more than one location please provide all of them. Give us as much detail as you want. Give us the background of the club. Let us know who many sessions you run, what ages are the sessions and what is the cost? Tell us if you have women-only sessions etc

If you want to be found on the directory for say 'Women' or 'Over 70s' then please add these in this field separated by commers. EG: women, over 40s, over 50s
